Qualifications:
About me professionally:
I received my Masters Degree to become a Marriage and Family Therapist and Rehabilitation Counselor from San Francisco State University in 1994 and I began my private practice in 2000. From 2004 through 2007, I studied Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies. Since then, I have developed an approach to treatment that includes working with concerns about the self, codependency and spiritual issues.
In 1997 I founded and served as the first executive director of Our Family Coalition, a non-profit organization serving the needs of LGBT families. In 1987, I received a Level I certificate in Drug and Alcohol recovery studies (UC Berkeley Extension, 1987), and counseled substance abusing clients for several years prior to licensure.
About me personally:
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I came to the San Francisco Bay Area with a lot of hope, but eventually became aware that I seemed to lack an inner road map that others seemed to have. After several painful attempts to create the life I wanted all by myself, I decided to try therapy. I was surprised when it actually worked. I have found that like me, many who start therapy are skeptical that lasting positive change can come from seeing a therapist. Yet change is always possible, if you are willing to work for it.
